*A wild American appears!* (pic heavy)
« on: March 30, 2010, 12:55:13 »
Hey everyone! Beshon here (just Besh for short). Just figured I'd drop in and do the intro thingy. 8) Hope no one minds some pictures along the way. I go by Beshon Stapovic in SL, and can normally be found hanging around the Jaguar Valley/Wolf Vally/Serenity Woods areas.

This will be my first furry con in over ten years. My first con ever was ConFurence 9 back in 1998 in California. We'll just say that it was... interesting, and leave it at that. ;) I decided to give furry cons another go and am VERY much looking forward to ConFuzzled! ;D

A little bit about me for anyone who cares. :P My home town is Las Vegas, NV in the US, but I'm currently living in the UK and working as a civilian contractor at RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk. I'm a jet engine mechanic by trade (incoming eye candy for those who like go-fast stuffs)...

That's me at our engine test facility at my previous contract job in Saudi Arabia. Anyone have some marshmallows? ;D

I'm hoping with over 300 folks attending, I'll bump in to some other furry gearheads as well. I'm very much in to cars and racing as a hobby, and love things that go zoomzoom! Yeah yeah, I know, as if you couldn't tell from the last picture, right? ::) The following are my toys (aka-money pits/monetary black holes) I play with in my off time.

Back in the US (in storage right now unfortunately), I have a `99 Camaro SS...

And over here in the UK, my toy is a `94 Nissan Skyline GT-R...

C'mon, I know there have to be some other furs out there that like to get some grease under those claws from time to time. ;)

Ok ok, enough rambling from me. Sorry to waste those couple minutes of your lives. Unfortunately, I don't do refunds. :D I'm really really really looking forward to meeting you folks and making some new friends! :)

Oooooh, very cool! I didn't realize they were based in Derby. That would definitely make for some awesome eye candy. 8)

Until you can get your tour of Rolls Royce though, I'll leave these here to hold you over. ;) Taken during the same shoot the first one was. The up close nozzle pic is a little blurry because it's soooooo loud back there. Even with double hearing protection on, it's just shaking you to your core...

And in case you were wondering, this is a General Electric F110-GE-129C engine. Typically this engine is used in F-16's. But there are a few countries such as Singapore, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia that have their F-15's fit with them. Typically F-15's use Pratt & Whitney engines, which is what I have the majority of my experience on.

Am not suprised how loud they are.
We used to have a caravan that was sat across the lake from RAF coningsby where Tornados are/were based. Them taking off at full burn were enough to shake the caravan o.o

Also managed to get airside at East Midlands airport to watch Concorde taking off. That was an experience ^_^
Then theres the antonov which visits here. Not the most graceful of creatures that one ^_^
Thanks

Where does that giant tube go to?  Just outside somewhere in a big chimney?

It's a long (approximately 100ft) tube lined with perforated metal panels, behind which is about 3-5ft thick of insulation for sound dampening. At the far end of the duct, there are a bunch of louver panels which direct the exhaust gasses straight up out the back of the facility.

You should consider talking to Kyyanno regarding your petrol head interests.  He is holding an event for people with the same interests as you :)

Welcome btw to the forums

Haha! Yes indeedy, I will be driving up from Lakenheath and getting there early-ish Friday evening. ;D

Looking forward to making some new friends and maybe some folks I can meet up with at a track once in a while. Thinking about taking a drive out to SantaPod this weekend or next just for kicks and giggles. Been in the UK a month and haven't really done much yet. :P

I think there's a ukFur meet coming up in the next couple of weekends at Santapod, you might want to sign up there and get along to it :)
