Birmingham Airport -> ConFuzzled 2012
« on: August 31, 2011, 14:41:25 »
I know it is a bit early to start planning, so this is mainly just throwing some ideas out there, and see if we can get something going. :D

I expect to land in Birmingham Airport at 9:55 on the 24th.
Are any others expecting to be there around the same time?

I'm thinking we could then - depending on group-size - go together by train or perhaps charter a bus? (Kind of like the furry bus from Berlin to EF).

Other suggestions welcome.

Edited: Changed from Luton to Manchester airport.
Edited again: Now Birmingham...

hi There DarkfoxDK,

I just wanted to draw your attention to this paragraph on our website under venue -> travel

Quote
Shuttle Service

The convention is currently investigating the option of supplying a shuttle bus service from some of the key regional transport hubs, including Hinckley and Nuneaton trains stations.  More information regarding this service will become available soon.  Please check back for further updates.

The hope is at this time that a shuttle service will be available from the local train stations, most noticeably Nuneaton or Hinckley.  This is still under negotiation although we have quotes in place and hope that we can have something more concrete soon, although unlikely until about December/January time before we can make commitments.

If we can get this in place, it will of course hopefully spare you a lot of time and trouble needing to arrange a shuttle service of your own.

Watch the website for updates! :)

Kind Regards,

Rizzorat

Thanks Rizzo,

That still leaves the part from the airport to the station though. It'd make that part a bit more fun, if - by waiting a little bit at the airport - we could gather up a bunch of people and go on the same train, instead of each of us just going individually.

Birmingham internation has its own station so its not really an epic trip just a hop on there followed by change at Birmingham main station.
I for one welcome our Muppet overloards.

it might be worth pointing out that to minimise changes, trains run direct from Birmingham International to Rugby, which is very close to the hotel indeed :)

Not that close. A bit under 30 minutes by car, so not a nice taxi fare to pay, and probably out of reasonable range for a shuttle van from the hotel. I'd only suggest it for someone who can get a lift from there to the hotel.

The travel page will explain all the options for people and until guests know who they are traveling with and when its really not worth filling this page with many options and personal views on those options.

When we are closer to the con date that is the time to plan travel. Needless to say there are many options travelling from birmingham, different ones will suit different people.

Hi there!

I'm looking for a pickup or shared ride for myself and two other furs including a little luggage from Birmingham airport to the consite on the morning of the 25th. Any chance for a pickup? :3

are you on the KLM flight from Amsterdam ... hey ... I'm booked on the one too ... same time and same date ...  ;D

If you find an easy way to the con please let me know ... I think even the shuttles from the train station will not run that day ...

Thanks

Me and 2 others will arrive at Birmingham airport at 12:55 on the 24th.
We're thinking of getting the train to Hinckley station and that we just walk towards the hotel.
I've heard that was possible from a local fur ^_^

Whilst it's possible, it would certainly be easier to get a taxi. Some of the route is not the best for walking on from a surface point of view and there are some faily busy roads to cross over.
Warning: Do not expose to shiny things.
