Fursuits go Dutch
« on: October 18, 2011, 19:55:46 »
This idea came up the other day on IRC which would be to have fursuiters perfoming instructions they hear spoken in Dutch. Some of the phrases can be quite amusing as they sound English, but are totally different.Possibly a few props could be used as well, pick up the right thing etc.

For a prize I was thinking along the lines of a packet of waffles.

Random idea was quite random, but someone might like the sound of it :)

Kind of like a Simon says but instead of the simon says they only go through if they are sort of right in what they do in relation to the phrase? Sounds fun although surely falls down when you have some actual Dutch speaking fursuiters XD

Similar to that yes, we would have to give the Dutch speaking ones.... Chinese, German or Swedish.

hi Guys,

we will definitely have dutch fursuiters there, that much isnt an issue.  The idea of simon says however was used this year in the Fursuit Fiasco, and may very well be incorporated again.  However, I am trying to ensure where possible we dont repeat the same games as last year to keep things fresh. I have made a note of this idea tho SFW, thanks for the suggestion :)

Cheers,

Rizzo

I think using dutch might give dutch fursuiters an un-fair advantage in fursuit games
unless one gives out phrase cards with phonetic soundings and translations  :)

We could use a language no one understands, like welsh. Or make up some kind of language something that sounds like a well known lanaguge but change it just a little bit, like American XD

No offence intented to Americans :P

I'd have suggested Latin, but some of the science knowing poeple might have an easy time with that one. There's always the ever classic of pure reversal of English. As in Red Dwarf it's standard English but run backwards.

pfft, Welsh is easy! I already know how to count from 1-7 and say "mind the gap between the train and platform edge" from the announcements at Cardiff Central xD

Which kind of American?  Bostonian American, where they put the emPHAsis on the wrong sylLAble?  New Yorker American, which just sounds like the city smells?  Southern American, Ah do declah!  Or perhaps Western American, 'Course ever'un kin unnerstan wesern ifn' ye jes thin about it.  We could go into the FAR west for some Valley Flavor, like totally...

Or you could try combining all of the above for an unmitigated catastrophe.

I'm half tempted to call it 'Going for Gold' like the old quiz show.
