I have seen on the map that more or less around the corner (or around the roundabaout) from the con-hotel there is a gas station with a small shop ... right?

Maaaaaybe you should tell them about the con and that most likely they will be flooded with people who want to buy stuff during those days. Not that they run out of supply during the first day and miss most of the business  ;D

We've already made sure that a number of local businesses, including this one, are well aware of what to expect when we invade the town! :)
