My own family know a little, my mother has been showing her work colleagues the website for the last month, you know usual mother bragging rights thing.
The next train to arrive is the 13:40 train to Hull, which is a pity as this is Tesco's.

Well unless he's willing to pay he can't really attend Zangeh, hopefully that'll give you more time to explain it all.

i told him that if he wants to come, i'll pay for him but he'll have to find a room. and that sounds pretty stupid now....... probably shouldn't have told him that. but it's whatever. hopefully he'll say no. but that's all i wanted to see.

My family don't have a clue. A combination of not wanting to be laughed at, along with the fact they'd freak out if they came across the porn and fetish stuff in the fandom.

Best not to say if you dont want him to come along I think.

Hi Zangehe,

Just to let you know in regards to this question, residential registration is now closed.  If he does opt to come, he would only be able to come as attending only.  It is now to late to apply for a room.  Just as a poliete reminder, allowing him to then stay with you in your room would be considered 'Ghosting', and if it is brought to the convention staffs attention that this is happening, you may be ejected from the convention and face a potential ban.

Formalities out of the way, if your brother is genuinely interested in the event, and seeing what furry has to offer, I do not see any harm in suggesting he comes along.  It really is a question of how comfortable you feel.  However, that said, if he is 18 and over, and an adult, it really is his own decision.

I actually have several friends whom have sibblings in the fandom and it actually brings quite a harmonous situation for them because they do not have to hide from reach other, and actually improves their socialising and bond.  It might well be worth talking to your brother on the topic sometime, see what he knows, where his interests are.

I hope that this information is useful for you.  Best of luck with your dealings.

Kind Regards,

Rizzo

Well, i was just going to put him as attending, and if possible, let him sleep in my room while i sleep somewhere else. but he's 23 and i'll see if he can come on here and see about it... i honestly think that it'll reach back to my family, but it's gonna happen soon so i guess get it out the way now than later...

I should clarify, this is ghosting too - there is no option you can take that allows your brother to stay overnight in a room at our venue without paying the residential fee. Our venue is quite strict on their rooming policies, as all our venues have been so far.

Residential registration is closed for 2012. There may be alternative options available, for which your brother will need to contact registration@confuzzled.org.uk - but we are quite close to the con now and it just may not be possible.

To be honest, my parents/family aren't really "with" this century, they barely know of any subcultures, let alone understand them :\ Did you talk to your brother about furs even though he didn't go? Please tell me if I'm being nosey, I'm just curious ^^;

My family do not know, and I have no intention of letting them find out.

I try to distance them from the real me.
