Quick question
« on: September 07, 2012, 09:25:07 »
Hi all,

I was just wondering about a few things about next years con. How much would a single room cost? (It's my first con and I really don't want to be freaking out any extra by sharing a room) And what's the food like for us awkward vegans? Any point hoping for any at all XD? Anywho, I think that's all I wanted to ask right now though I don't doubt they'll be more later x.x

Hope everyone is well :D

Hah, no worries, it's not the most obvious thing to get asked :P

Darn, I couldn't see that part, I must need better glasses. I'll ask through the official email but I'm guessing I'll be waiting for 2014 then x.x

You can put in your registration form if you're a vegetarian. The hotel has a proper restaurant and should have plenty of food for even the pickiest of eaters.

Also- like the person above me said- you can get to know someone from around here who is going and try to find someone you're comfortable with. If you pick a double room with only two people you will both have a bed to yourselves as well. I spent minimal time in my room last year and the stranger I was sharing a room with (for I put no person in the box and was given someone at random) did not get in my way whatsoever.
^-^ I know it can be stressful going to your first convention, but you'll have to take little things like having very limited single rooms with a pinch of salt. You might not even grab a single in 2014 since those things were sold-out so very quickly.

Hi Neithie!

Happy to meet a fellow vegan, and I'm sure there will be more of us there.  Vegan is even an option at registration, though I'm not sure what it's used for.  Since I'm near the venue I'll be bringing a bunch of vegan goodies to share, probably even sandwich ingredients.  There are lots of options in Leicester too, so no worries!

As far as rooms go, consider how much time you'll actually spend in your own room versus activities and other hang outs.  You can for sure still get a bed to yourself and room with a maximum of 1 other person most likely.   And you get to choose who you room share with, so see if anyone you know is going.   Or maybe consider an Inn nearby?

I'm really rather pleased so many people are offering such good advice!  ;D  you guys rock!

There are a fair few attendees who specifically want to share a room and specifically do NOT want to choose a sharing partner. They get to know new people that way, every year!

So yes, as people said, you can still go for a room where you get a bed to yourself but just have someone else staying in the room too. Good way of getting to know new people.

If you really REALLY want a single bed in a room to yourself, you can still register but you would have to go on the waiting list and hope that someone who got there before you ends up cancelling. Which, I have to admit, is a little bit slim :/

Regarding the Veggie and Vegan options, we pass that info on to the hotel so they have an idea of numbers and can make sure to lay on enough dining options for you guys. :)

It's not that entirely, I'm just super bad with interacting with people, especially new ones >_< I might have to, thanks for the advice ^^!

Oh great, that's wonderful to hear! I was afraid I'd have to bring back up food :P Wow, really? I take it this is a super popular con then o.o! Hmm, I guess adventures await me then ^^;! If I go, I'll be the awkward looking fur standing in the corner XP!

Hello Coadey :D!

Ohh, awesome! I don't know any other vegans as well XD! I must be living under a rock D: Wow! That sounds like all kinds of fun, I'll have to bring some goodies as well, cookies for all!

That is true, I guess I'm just a whimp :P I don't know any furs at all, hence the single room but I'm going to try and be brave, I really do want to go after all! I probably wouldn't consider the inn I'm afraid, on my first con, I don't want to get lost!

Indeed, thought I doubt not as pleased as me :P! Ohh, I hadn't thought of that, that'd be a good way to make new friends o.o! No worries, I'll definitely register anywho, I'm sure if someone can put up with me, I could put up with them :P

Great! Thanks for the reply, I'm super excited now :D!

When I registered in the early hours of 11th Sept it was -2 single rooms left, so I have had settle for a shared room with 2 beds which works out cheaper.

Yes, the negative numbers means there are people on the waiting list for single rooms (it's just how the stats page displays it that looks a little odd).

I know it works out a lot cheaper but it's finding someone who will put up with me as a room mate D:! I'm at least hoping for a girl to share with :S!
