Playing instruments
« on: March 22, 2014, 20:34:42 »
Hey there all,

Since I'm going to be bringing my guitar up to CF to possibly enter the talent contest, I was wondering what the rules are for playing an instrument at any point in time over the con. I like to practice on a regular basis (practically ever day, or even twice a day when really in the mood) but I don't know what the rules would be if I were to spontaneously practice as and when. I have headphones which I can put in, but I like to play over music in the background.

Also, what are the chances that I could play in one of the main rooms for people to sit and listen in, or if they have an instrument also join in?

So long as your not going against the CoC i dont see why you cant practice.
You may want to chuck CF an email and see what they say, i Beleve you can get through to con ops at conops@confuzzled.org.uk and they should be able to answer your question.

Hi Riaral,

from the hotels perspective, they will have other guests in, so playing of your intrument in your bedroom will have to be done so in a manner that does not cause disturbance to other guests.  Since you already refer to using headphones, cannot see this being a problem.

You will not be permitted to play it in the Lounge or lobby area, as this is a communial, public facing space that is not exclusive to the convention.  As for convention exclusive space, you will need to agree this as Rwylin pointed out, with Con ops and/or Events, whom might be able to secure you some space for practice or agree for you to play it somewhere.

Cheers,

Rizzo

Thanks Rizzo, I'll be sure to bring my studio headphones with me to silence out the amp and wait for the ConOps/Events team to reply to my email.
