Confuzzled Talent Show
« on: February 10, 2014, 20:42:34 »
I'm sure I can say without too much of an ego that we furries are a pretty creative bunch, and I'm hoping to get some people a little bit of exposure at the upcoming Confuzzled. We already have showcases for dancing talents, but not so much for other factors in musical ability or other forms of performance art!

So with that in mind, if you're a musician, singer, comedian, or even a magician, anything that you would like to show off that doesn't fall into an existing showcase, please get in touch with me at DamianTanuki@confuzzled.org.uk and give me a brief description of what it is you want to perform.

All I ask right now is that you commit to a rehearsal beforehand, and let me know in advance of the convention so that I have time to work out a running order.

If you have any friends you might think will be interested, let them know!

If I could miraculously find a crew to get some heavy metal mastered, I'd love to. It sucks being a solo guitarist sometimes =(
Let's sing, let's dance, let's have a ball.

Finding bands is hard, I know. I'd love to be able to get something together myself. Drummers are the main difficulty.

If you fancy playing a solo or something there might be a place for that. You're the only person to offer any kind of reply yet, though, which is a little disheartening.

That's the kinda thing we're looking for! If you're sure you want to take part, could you send an e-mail to DamianTanuki@confuzzled.org.uk ? I'm gonna try and get a folder together to make things easy to keep track of. Any resources you might need, too.

It would be one hell of a challenge for me to bring my guitar and amp with me. I have a huge guitar case that stands taller than my shoulders and pretty portable amp, but then it's a case of all that along with my clothes as well as my fur suit. If only I had an extra pair of arms haha

EDIT: I am working on figuring out the easiest way for me to bring my gear up for this, just finished 3 hours of learning some songs so I might as well use them as an act. Once I get a stamped and sealed plan of action, I'll let you know my status on the situation =)

Didnt realise there was a new thread for this.

YES I would like to enter.
I play acoustic guitar - quite uniquely is the best way I can put it (studied jazz and classical before that but ended up in a punk band and now do mostly experimental stuff).
I've never done a solo performance, nor have I ever attended a con before so this will be a scary experience and I will require much alcohol!
As for what I want to play, options are still open but song candidates include:
 - One of my own songs if I can finish it
 - Big Love (Fleetwood Mac) crazy acoustic version
 - Bad (U2)
 - Stairway to Heaven (Led Zeppelin) - but only if I have access to helium like maybe a glamorous assistant with a baloon ready (yes I'm dead serious)
 - One or more of the bard songs from Skyrim, or possibly a medley

And yes a rehearsal will definitely be a good thing!
Delusions of grandeur?  I'm better than that!

Have you tried recording things for youtube (or somewhere else) before? I find that's a good way to get used to performing and you can get a bit of feedback too

I'm not entirely sure on what things people are gonna like. I've got ideas, but don't know how they will go.

I've got:

Faint - Linkin Park
Losing Sight - As I Lay Dying (METAL \m/ )
Knights of Cydonia - Muse
Chu Chu Lovely - Maximum The Hormone
Lowlife - Theory of a Deadman
American Idiot - Green Day
And my own song (which I'd have to sing but I have a voice that sounds like wailing seagulls haha)

If any of you like a particular song from this list, please say so. I'll be sure to get the settings right on my new amp and pedal for the specific song.
