Beer Pong Tournament?
« on: March 13, 2014, 19:59:23 »
Just an idea for an event or maybe something that could be fun in the evenings.
It could be set up on a regular table tennis table if the Hilton have one, or even just a couple of tables pushed together with a portable table tennis net.
Not sure on the Hiltons status on bringing our own booze for it or whether alcohol licensing would be an issue if we purchased it from the hotel bar.

Thoughts?

Hello!

I'm afraid it's my job to be the party pooper here.

ConFuzzled just moved to a business hotel, that has no experience with us whatsoever. While (of course) you my not bring your own beverages of any kind into the hotels public areas, you could buy the beer from the hotel bars, so that's not much of a problem, if you're willing to spend that much.

But we're not alone in the hotel and this game is known to become very messy. Apart from this, neither would the hotel nor the other hotel guests find this very funny. Last but not least is this game also known to make quite a few people very drunk, very fast. And while drinking and party are undeniable big parts of the convention, but excessive consumption of alcohol to the point of delirium, sickness or worse are neither tolerable nor the idea of a happy get-together. Therefore we escort people to their rooms only once in their lifetime... ;)

So, all jokes aside, I'm afraid this is not a practical idea at a multi-star business hotel, sorry!

That's pretty understandable. I guess i've been spending wayyy too much time in holiday resorts lately. Things tend to get very messy on a very regular basis.
And wow, Beer pong is a dirty game! Haha, thanks Men's Health. As if the hangover is bad enough on it's own, now i've got to worry about Salmonella. Fun times!

It's a fun way to get smashed fast, or if your good at it, a fun way to get your mates smashed even faster! We have a table in the bar i work in. It can get pretty competitive but it's always a good laugh.

I'm somewhat of a stick-in-the-mud regarding drunkenness. I prefer social, restrained drinking rather than 'getting smashed' as people call it. Doesn't appeal to me whatsoever.

Rather than have beer in the glasses/beakers. why not have empty ones, when you score you go buy a drink and then drink it?

Saves on mess and such ^_^
Thanks

The idea is to have about one quarter, or slightly less, of a pint per cup so you can neck it when the ball lands in it. Any more and it becomes a bit of a struggle to drink. Also,  having empty cups means the ball knocks them over when it hits the cup or just bounces back out when it lands inside. One quarter of a pint is just enough to stop the cups tipping over if the ball hits the rim or side of the cup therefore avoiding spilliage of said precious beverage.
