Travel Arrangements
(1/1)
SouthPaw:
Hi folks,
Here we go with a quick travel roundup for ConFuzzled for those of you travelling from the UK (most of you):
Driving: Don't even think about it. Our venue has just 10 parking spaces, two of which we'll be reserving for Disabled attendees, with the others being used primarily by staff. There are a number of public car parks in Manchester City Centre, but they tend to cost around £15 a day.
Flying: As much as it pains me to say it, for some people flying may work out the best option.
FlyBE are currently offering a flight from Southampton to Manchester leaving at 11:10 on the 20th (arriving into Manchester at 12:10) and returning at 15:30 on the 23rd (arriving into Southampton at 16:30) for just £1.54 each way, making a total of £55.98 return including taxes.
British Airways, meanwhile, are offering a 13:15 departure from Heathrow (arriving into Manchester at 14:15) and 15:30 return (arriving into Heathrow at 16:30) for £86.70 return, including taxes and charges.
And FlyBMI are offering returns from £64 including taxes.
Train: The Train Companies are currently only taking bookings up until the end of March. We'll let you know when they're open for the period of ConFuzzled. For those travelling from London, a Single ticket on Virgin starts from £13 in Standard Class and £31 in First Class. If you travel with East Midlands Trains via Chesterfield/Sheffield, fares start from £7 Single in Standard Class and £14 Single in First Class.
Coach: Despite its critics, modern coaches are generally fairly comfortable and have a reasonably generous seat pitch, and with both National Express and Megabus offering tickets starting from £1 Single, it's certainly the cheapest way to get there...Only drawback is the journey time.
Cheers,
Southie
Avalanche:
Regarding travelling by East Midlands Trains via Nottingham (if people land at East Midlands Airport)/Chesterfield/Sheffield. All the trains that run through to Manchester on that route for EMT are standard class only as they are just 2-4 standard class coaches with no first class area.
