Hotel bars can be very expensive! at some you pay over £3.00 for a pint! for instance in the lake district they do at some charge £3.30!

even in a country pub nr birmingham,,well lickey end you can pay £3.00 +

ive always been led to belive that nothern pubs were really cheap ???

prices vary round here (worksop), anywhere from 1.69 - 3.10 per pint, depends on the pub.

1.69 is cool = loads of beer!  i would imagen  the hotel would be around £ 3.00 a pint or maybe cheaper!  i suppose im pushing ita bit in hoping all beers will be 1.50.. ??? ???

but going to confuzzled is not really about getting too drunk and making a fool of ya self, we  can do that anywhere.

I belive it was under £3 a pint last year of course VAT has gone up and I dont remember the prices since I dont drink at the staff meetings there but its not an amazingly unreasonable price.

There are a fair few pubs less than 3 mins walk form the station in picadilly gardens if thats where your looking. In fact around the picadilly gardens area theres many many many bars as its one of the main social areas so everyhting form modern to traditional.

Goodness Lev, warn me before you swear like that in public. 'Walk' is almost as bad as that other word 'Work'. I'll have to go and have a lie down now.

i dont mind walking, seen as my main mode of transport is my mountain bike.

i prefer pubs that serve proper beer (cask ales, porters, bitters) as i'm a real ale drinker.

i'll start looking at what they have to offer and see whats what.

Theres plenty fo real ale pubs too not too far off the track, not sure if camera will have any really close in the guide but its worth a look. Im a real ale drinker myself and make my own through traditional methods. Its what powers some of the staff in the off season XD

That I couldnt say unfortuantly. As Im usually only at the hotel for meetings or the con where I work too much to leave I dont really know. Its only a short walk up the road to a main shopping area with places to eat etc there must be some pubs there with hand pulls casks. there simply MUST >.<

then head out to a pub for a bit or till registration opens.

I certainly recomend it. Although the con will be a very social hub of activity that day its also mental and packed if you can escape for a while its a good plan as after a while the reg queue goes down too and its easier to just get sorted. Much less stress, Id do that if I wasnt putting the stage together XD
