Um i was under the inclination that we are given our ID
at the con with a con badge included? It just confuses me
that so many people have them ready to wear.

You will be given your official ID for the con at registration, with your name and icon on it, that gets you into the convention.  However, for some furs one badge with their name and character on it is not enough.  They commission con badges from artists and wear those as well.  Over the years some collect so many it looks like they're wearing some kind of laminator-mail armour.

The difference is your badges are for you to show others what you/your char/s look like. Your con badge ID's you to others as well as staff and security its more like a passport

oh, boy i'd love to once Lynx the wonderful artist finishes it, both the artists this year
were wonderful, but i only could pick one , such a shame as both were just as good
as one another.

Ive made 2 homemade con badges since I can't afford to comission one at the moment the 2nd one is still being coloured atm the first one was way too big XD

hey guys some great badges there ^^ this my first furcon ever and well im curious on the conbadges? do we just print em out a certain size and get the plastic tag part there? ^ ^ yay first con

i have a badge done by muzz (my icon) so i'd just print that off and bring it woth me ?

Well the convention provide an ID badge which allows you into the convention and sponsor ones for the exclusive events. The character badges you see around are either made by artists themselves or paid for by those who don't draw. There is no hard fast rule on the size, but most people keep them no more then a few inches for space and cost.

You can check on Furbid or Furbuy for those offering commissions, FA or Deviantart are also both good places to find artists. Ask for reccommendations on those who are good. You can even just turn up at the convention and see who is offering for them to be made there and then or will do take home commissions that you can have posted to you later.
