Postal/Courier Services
Wolfie Fox:
Next time use DHL
SouthPaw:
Given that DHL is around £14 for that (as they don't offer individual mail services), and Royal Mail is about a pound, or a fiver for Special Delivery, there's not really a contest :P
Cheers,
Southie
Wolfie Fox:
Well at least DHL can deliver things when they say they will, and without loosing it :P

Unfortunately, I've found that isn't always true.... I had something due to arrive on a "Next Day" service; they tried to deliver about 3 days after the day it was due, and of course I wasn't there at the time, so they left a card to collect it from the depot.
I dutifully phoned them up, made the appointment to collect the parcel, drove the 30 minutes to my local depot to sit in their waiting room for about an hour while they hunted for the package which the person I'd spoken to on the phone had assured me was in the collection office. In the end they decided they'd lost it and I had to get the stuff reshipped, ended up getting it about two weeks later, which makes me wonder why I paid for a next day service.

We've had both external clients, and some of our own in-house things using both couriers and Royal Mail in the past. All of us have pretty much abandoned the external courier firms now however, and not for reasons of cost either. From experience over time, for all RM do manage to mess up more than they should, they do it an awful lot less than any of the courier firms, and yet still charge considerably less for the privilege.
