Music at Confuzzled
« on: June 26, 2009, 16:09:50 »
After reading LevLions reply I was wondering,

Do you have like a band on in the evening for entertainment?

I was thinking that my band (a rock/pop covers band ) would probably be up for it (I have no idea how I'm goin gto broach the subject, but).. I also know a couple of other bands that might be willing to travel up and play some music.

In theory you could probably get 3 acts on for an evening (from say 8pm -> 11:30pm). each having sort of 45 minutes to an hour to play, 15 minutes to change over.

Would this be something people would be interested in?

During the evenings, we have live sage events going on as well as dances :)

What we really want is a keyboard for people to play on randomly in the lobby - or a piano (if the hotel already has one).  It'd be just like AC, FC and MFF.  How about it?

What would?  A Theremin?

Haha, I had that thought as well. Although I've seen a guitar used to play a theremin.. which is less like science and more like magic. :P

The music jam last year was largely reliant on people bringing their own instruments, if it happens again this time someone might bring a keyboard? Though I imagine a piano is a bit much for casual travel. ;)

Well actually there were annoucements through email last year saying for any musicians to contact us and I would bring any instruments or amps people wanted (since this is my work) and we had an epic 3 replies one of which pulled out anyway. So I brought 2 amps and an electric and a classical guitar as per discussions. The chance was there for people to ask for things but no one did.
Im not going to offer this year I dont think. People diddnt really seem that interested in asking or in the jam much at all prior to the con happening. It will have to wait and see what my schedual and van space will be like this sorta thing has to come last in van priority.

Well, in theory then, if one was to bring their own keyboard and set it up somewhere for their own enjoyment (and others) in between workshops and such, would they get reprimanded?

So long as you wernt in anyones way no, altough we cant promise or offer any power socketsbviously cause that depends where you are, what the hotel say (they are veyr picky on people using their stuff) and whats currently going on (we will have some events we dont wish others to be making noise around).

Noted, I'll have to check closer to the time (if I have a keyboard of my own, by then, of course).  Thanks for the swift feedback.
