Dealers Den & Art Auction / Re: Space Vixens
« on: May 10, 2014, 18:25:55 »
Thank you!

It's the first time I've actually tried something like this: but I must admit, it was a whole lot of fun drawing my vixens like this!

And I'll keep a look out for you in the dealers' den, too!

As a ConFuzzled veteran (this'll be my 7th), I can definitely say you'll have fun there!

You don't need a fursuit at all to have fun, either. But if you do, then it doesn't really matter if it's a full or partial. They're both good there!

And I'm driving up from Devon myself. (Although I'm doing the trip over two days, so I can pick up a friend who's flying to and from Bristol Airport on both occasions.)

If you decide to come, I hope to see you there!

I've been around for quite a while myself (I'm definitely one of the older attendees of ConFuzzled); but I must admit, I'd never heard of that before!

But these two pictures aren't related to that; and they're definitely general audience!

And thank you for pointing it out to me!

Dealers Den & Art Auction / Space Vixens

I don't normally draw artwork related to the con theme: but this year, I thought I'd have a go at it!

Two Space Vixens, complete with 50s-styled spacesuits and rayguns...

(And totally safe for all viewers, I might add!)

Space Vixen Rorschene: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/12713931/

These two *may* be making an appearance in the ConFuzzled artshow. But we'll have to see about that!

Off-Topic / Re: I got my artwork shown on US TV!!

Yep, Fox kept to my request. But as you say, they didn't really have much of a choice in the matter!

(Then again, they know better than most that when it comes to issues of copyright, they have to respect the copyright owner's wishes!)

It was still a giant fluke that I got picked, though. They told me how they did it, and I followed the same route to see what happens. Apparently, they discovered me via the old VCL, then DA - neither of which are my main accounts. But whatever twist of fate saw them choose my work, I'm certainly not complaining about it!

And of course, thanks for your advice on the matter!

It really was fantastic when it happened - and totally unexpected, too!

What makes it even more special is the unique course of events that saw them choose my artwork. It was a fluke - but one I'm certainly not going to complain about!

Off-Topic / I got my artwork shown on US TV!!

Yep, it's true: my artwork got featured on the Fox News show, "Red Eye w/Greg Gutfeld", on September 14th! (And off-topic as it may be, I thought I'd share the story with you!)

It all started with an e-mail from one of the show's producers on the previous day, where they asked me if they could use some of my artwork on their programme. At first, I thought it was a prank; but as I checked up on it, I found out that it wasn't a spam mail, but an actual legitimate request!!

As someone who knows UK copyright law (thanks to a friend), I asserted my moral rights as an artist, ensuring they couldn't alter the artwork in any way. (This is one of the many reasons why I say moral rights are so important!) They agreed, and picked three of my pieces to show: Warrior Panda, Joy and Aiden.

I'll admit, I was stunned by this turn of events, and I was astonished to see my artwork appear on the show. (I saw it for the first time on Saturday 28th September.) But it was fun to see, and I'd certainly consider doing something like that again!

And for those who missed it (which is most of us here in the UK!), you can see the full episode here:-

(My art appears in the final section, about a minute from the end of the show.)

Thanks for reading!

Discussion / Re: Registration Questions
« on: September 03, 2013, 17:53:00 »
Thank you for the reply, Tungro!

Yes, I'm eager to register. I've made 6 CFz already; I'm definitely up for number 7!

The early arrival question was just down to the fact I might have two airport stops this year, and small car + too many passengers = somebody on the roof! So the early arrival option is important for me this year.

And it's good to know there'll still be a way of purchasing registrations for other attendees.

In the meantime, I'll wait patiently(-ish) for the full website to go live!

Discussion / Registration Questions
« on: September 02, 2013, 18:34:24 »
Sorry if I'm sounding a bit impatient (or over-eager!), but I've just got a couple of questions about registration for ConFuzzled 2014.

Firstly, when (roughly) will registration be opening?

Secondly, is there an early arrival option this year?

And finally, will you be offering the vouchers as you have in previous years, so folks can purchase registrations for other attendees?

Feedback / Re: The Queues ¬_¬
« on: July 14, 2013, 19:55:24 »
If you want queues, you should have seen the monsters at Anthrocon!!

The sponsors' queue for the dealers' den was already about a hundred deep by the time I joined it - and that was an hour before the den opened! By the time it did open, I reckon it was over 500 deep...

(I didn't see the regular queue for the den, but I dread to think how long that one was!!)

Now, ConFuzzled isn't quite as big as Anthrocon (yet!), so the queues aren't quite that vast. But it does say one thing: there are a lot of events that a lot of folks want to go to!

We have censored the projected images since last year due to the number of complaints received in years when we haven't done so. It's also worth remembering that the hotel staff are also in the room, and they might not want to see it.

That may be so: but by doing so, you also make it impossible for me to bid on any piece like that.

(Why? I can't easily lift my arms above my head, thanks to long-standing injuries to both shoulders - so getting the piece over to me to see it just isn't an option.)

I'll ask now: will you be censoring the pieces next year? Only if you are, I won't be putting any pieces into the adult artshow, since I'm not willing to have them censored like that.

As an artist who also had artwork in the artshow, I've got to agree with the points raised by Jess and Shirik.

Maybe it would be a good idea to introduce a countback system - that way, it's not just the pieces with 10 bids that make it to the voice auction, but some of those that fall a little short can also make it. That way, it gives a lot more incentive for the lesser-known artists at CF to have a chance at having pieces in the auction.

Also, moving the dealers' den opening times so it's open for another day AFTER THE AUCTIONS CLOSE could only be a good thing, both for dealers and artists. (Going by the fact CF is running from Friday to Tuesday next year, maybe have the auction on Sunday evening, and re-open the den on Monday?) It's just a suggestion.

One final thing: why the censorship of the pictures on the screens during the auction? There are no minors at CF, and this is the 21st century: so why the throwback to the Victorian era? (Personally, I thought this was really offensive; and since most of the artwork I had in the artshow was of a mature nature, I would have been exceptionally peeved if my work had been treated in this way.)

Discussion / Extra Day
« on: August 28, 2012, 18:36:50 »
I know ConFuzzled 2013 isn't for another nine months yet, but I was wondering: do you have any idea on what'll be going on during that extra day?

I'm already planning on arriving on the Thursday, but if the dealers' den is going to be open for an extra day, then I'd need to change that to Wednesday to make the most of the set-up time.

Having been to all the previous ConFuzzleds so far, I can honestly say that the new hotel looks fabulous - a big upgrade on previous years!

Don't get me wrong - I think the previous locations were both great. But this one is something else!

And I'm definitely going to be seeing it for myself next year! To quote Arnie: "I'll be back..."
