Title: cf 2014 talent contest
Post by: geo on December 13, 2013, 16:23:09
thought this would be a good place to keep all of the acts for the talent contest for people to drum up attention or help for there ideas
i personally will be doing  a road runner vs Wile E. Coyote and need some one to do the road runner part.

I'll do a musical performance. I need to test my developing voice anyway.

If I had a PA system, my new planned guitar rig, and a 8-chanell mix desk, then I'd do a gig. But then I'd need a van and someone to drive it all XD

Being a musician can be a pain at times.

I'm bringing my guitar and some basic equipment (some of it home made).  What do you need minimum?  I'm sure a bunch of us could pool resources - always done that with gigs around here.  And I'm pretty sure the hotel will have a PA which will be used for announcements and stuff.  Ask the even organisers about that.

If you want to organise anything email in to the events team. They are best placed to advise on everything that is already in place and what's happening. Of note, any electrical equipment you bring to be used by the convention would need to be tested for safety.

Thats a good point - might be worth adding some guidelines for that (just read through the general rules and stuff again in case I'd missed something but nothing there).  I assume it would only apply to 'big' equipment operating at mains level since people use stuff like phone chargers and other low voltage plug in stuff in hotels all the time.

Personal things used in rooms are fine though to be used as always :)

@Raven Luni: I have a huge BC Rich hard guitar case which reaches my shoulders when stood up right, I've have to cart that, my amp, and then all my other stuff to. Being a heavy metal fan as well, I don't many people would want to listen to the stuff I play haha

Everyone loves a bit of metal :D

Unless youre really particular about your sound, you could leave out the amp - any effects pedals etc do the job of a preamp and will give you a line level signal that can go into the PA, as will a decent mixer.

I'll just have a stand-alone acoustic setup including a small home-made amp / resonator (battery powered)

Glad to see I ain't the only one then XD

All I have is a 10 watt practice amp which doesn't do much work for metal songs. Has a nice distortion, but nothing close to what it should sound like.
I wish I had another £500 spare to buy my new rig, then I would deffo cart it all up to CF and give the peeps a show.
