Off-Topic Furry Discussion / Another First Fursuit
« on: February 07, 2011, 15:51:36 »
My own first effort at a head.
a plastic canvas frame with foam overlayed, some basic work done in shaping, ears not yet attached and debating on adding padding for more prominant cheak bones and a wider shape.
Ohh, and ignore the time stamps. I forgot to reset the date in the camera so it all got tagged as 2008

Ahh, so many mistakes have been made.
I could start over, I have enough materials to spare It wouldn't cost much.
I have already redone parts two or three times.
Sigh.
Decisions. Decisions.
One things is for sure, the snout is too small for a fan and I am having trouble with the jaw.
The whole face probably should have been lifted more forward to give better room for the eyes, and the forehead pushes forward in an odd way...
Well, on the bright side, if I make loads of mistakes now I will have a lot to learn from!
By the end of one fursuit I may have made every mistake conceivably possible XD
And I can't even find a good source of fur that doesn't come from America with a delivery charge that adds 50% the cost of the actual fur.
And if anyone knows where to get nice affordable wigs, prefferably white and brown, do let me know.
I could go with the real cheap fur available in the local fabric shop (bright yellow and orange) which would save enough money that I could almost certaqinly have a new fursuit ready for next year :D
Assuming I can afford to go again >.<
Which would be a maybe after a new suit >.>

Off-Topic Non Furry Discussion / Re: Favour Films

Not in any particular order, for me you would have

American Werewolf in London, (A furry liking a werewolf movie? shock horror!)
Donnie Darko (one of the few films I really enjoyed watching over and over)
Wizard of Oz (I'm just a dandy lion myself)
Where the Wild Things Are (quite recent and the little white one is adorable. His personality is so close to mine I Empathize with him constantly >.<)
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. (What worries me Billy, is how your mother is going to take this.)
Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (it has no equal :D)
All Dogs go to Heaven (I have to put in at least one Bluth animation)
Dark Star (Philosophical debate with a bomb that thinks it's god! How often do you see that?)
The Prestige (If only Tesla was a bigger part ^.^ )
Alien (No Comment)
The Truman Show (The next level of reality TV!)

And that is my top Ten!
No idea what order they should be in, and I am well aware that I listed 11 films!
I have to be that extra little bit more indecisive after all.

hah. The Cat Returns is great. I watched it again only a few days back. Doesn't make it onto my list sadly.
I mean howe crazy is that girl? given the chance to be a cat and she turns it down!
Honestly. I worry about people like that.
Mononoke is another great one, but again, not on my list.
I Don't think it was too drawn out at all. it builds tention. All action doesn't make for a good movie!
I'm just not a big anime fan, but if any anima was going to be up there as the 12th of 10 it would be Cowboy Bebop
There are so many diffrent werewolf movies that have been good... None I can name produced after An American werewolf in London however :D

I have come to the realisation that it can be judged just how much I need sleep based on how willing I am to apply hot glue to something currently strapped in place over a significant area of bare skin.
I am really bonding with my suit.

appease the suit!
It demands blood, sweat an tears!

You learn intresting things while sowing.
I learned that I can pass a needle through the skin of my left index finger and not notice until I try to draw the threat through after it.

It will be my first furry con too!
I have attended Games conventions here in Ireland many times, but never a furry con before.
So Yes, I am looking forward to it, and I too hope to have a fursuit finished in time, or at least the head plus hand and foot paws.

Oh really?
From the airport terminals? 0.o
That is great :D
At any rate, nothing is set in stone yet as far as travel between the airport and the hotel, so whever new options become apperant I can make a plan from there.

I've already land-marked the hotel and near by stations in my phone's satnav.
and I should also have enough for a taxi fare if I get stuck so no worries!
I shall get there one way or another.
And good times shall be had by all! ^.^

It's either a 6:30 flight, or a 12:30 flight. The second wont arrive in Manchester until 13:30 and I would still have to find my way to a place I have never been before, through a city I have only been in once, given that I am a person that has lived in Dublin my entire life and still can't find my way around the city center, I think the 6:30 flight is the best option ;)
Odds are with m sense of direction I will end up Back in Dublin and have to make a last minute booking for the next flight anyway ;)

Yeah, the flight are at least than ideal times. Not as much choice in them as I thought ....

for coming home I have a choice between 13:50 and 21:55....
So I have to take the second one really, taking into account finding my way back there at least an hour early for check in.

Besides, worse can happen than having to sit about, and if there are going to be others already there then great!
And I may as well try to miss out on nothing for my furst furry con ^.^

Grand. Sounds like a plan to me!
Arrive in Manchester airport at 7:30, leave Manchester airport at... 21:55.
To bad they don't have an 20:35 flight coming back, but at least I can be sure I wont miss anything ^.^

Ahh ha! Been waiting on my accounts approval!
Signed up to attend the con a few days ago ^.^
It shall be my first time attending a furry con, though it will be my second time in Manchester!
I see there is going to be another Person from the Republic of Ireland going, also a lion!
I am in the process of stabbing myself repeatedly with needles in an effort to get a fursuit together.... Fingers (what's left of them) crossed I actually get it done in time. It is my first time trying to make one too.

I would appreciate it if someone would point me to a timetable of events, or even a timetable of old events. Is there anything that happens on the Friday or Monday to go to?
I really need to book the flights as soon as I possibly can, but without knowing how things usually go I don't know when I should be planning to arrive or leave.
