Introduce Yourself / The Snep Returns
« on: December 08, 2014, 14:42:47 »
Hello everyone,
Decided to come back to CFz this year after having a year long break from the fandom. If you don't know me; I'm Jess/Lyra, I am an artist in the fandom, have been for the last 8 years or so, I do take commissions and will be in the dealers den again (I hope, waiting on confirmation), I now have a snow leopard fursuit, she came last year but didnt do much. I also organise SouthFur Camp every year. This will be my 5th CFz, last one I was at was the Medieval One.

For those who do know me, Hai!

I hope to dominate the music scene this year, will of course be singing at any chance I get and I want to dance till my feet fall off.
Now comes the time where I dash madly around trying to get all commissions done in time for the con.

Check out my art here

Oh yeh, Im also huge on the Brony scene and will be taking some prints with me to sell =3

Discussion / Conbook material
« on: August 14, 2013, 19:24:29 »
Right this may cause an uproar, but I would like to point out something about future conbook artwork. Could it be limited to artists either within the UK or at least the artists who ARE going to the con and/or selling wares? I just thought it was kinda unfair to have some big names in there from overseas not even comming to CF taking up room where an underdog local artist could be put. I know of several, including myself, UK based furry artists who worked their tails off to submit somthing for the conbook. I had about 5 pieces I sent forward and not one got in =( I was honestly quite disappointed, because I knew that it gets bigger and brighter every year and im aware its become a bit of a fight to get in it now, but maybe you could show some love for local artists?
I'd personally want less "oh its a blotch piece again" and more "oh hey a new artist, they do really nice artwork, i hope they're in the den"

Discussion / Drinks list
« on: June 16, 2013, 20:46:59 »
Hey guys, is it possible to get a copy/photo of the CF themed Drinks list they had in the bars?
SouthFur Camp is comming up and I would LOVE to know what was in some of them so we can attempt to make them. Frog in Boot was the one I'm mostly looking for, but any of them will do. =3

Feedback / Art Auction
« on: June 07, 2013, 23:56:20 »
I've not found an existing thread for it, so made my own.
I'm saying this on behalf of myself and other artists who put hard work into drawing up artwork for the auction, we're not as known or perfected as some of the big names that were there, but we find it unfair that 10 bids put a piece into the live auction. The live auction seemed super short as well, its always been a highlight for me to go watch and join in, but this year I could not help feeling that it was rushed and in favouritism of the more detailed skilled artists. We want to see more of the newer raw talented art get into the live. So I have gathered up a few requests and suggestion from other artists and dealers who have discussed this year's organisation with me.

First off, please could we have the bid count back down to 6? 10 is pretty high. I saw several pieces a bid or few down from making it into the live auction. We (my artists discussion group) think that its a lot more fun to have more things in the auction that are at a lower starting bid, like Jencen's silly items. The auction was FUN at one point and not all about "oh how much more money than Tani's tablecloth can we get these prints to?" (no offence to Tani) but it has become the same thing in the live auction each year. WE WANT UNDERDOG ARTISTS IN THE LIVE AUCTION!!!

Next could it be possible for all 100% to charity pieces to go straight into the live auction? I know how badly you as a charity supporting event want to raise money, why not add all those pieces in? There was the odd piece, including my own, that did not get ANY bids.

This is a suggestion from a fellow dealer, could we experiment with swapping the live auction day with dealers den days? I'll try to make it clearer. Have the auction earlier in the week, that way anyone who gets outbid on something they've seen in the silent or live auction that they REALLY want can have a second chance at getting it in the dealers den, especially if it's a print you can pick up from the artist, but I guess this idea could work if the den had an extra few hours/day. This would also mean more profit for dealers in general, because most people I know will have saved their money for the final mins of the auctions. If they saved money and got outbid in the auctions theres a chance for some dealers to earn a little more from those outbid people.

I hope you take these points into account, they're not all from me, but from a group of artists and dealers. I just decided that these points should all be in one place for you to read.
Thanks for reading.

Dealers Forum / Music
« on: February 16, 2011, 09:36:49 »
I think this came up before, last year, but are there any rules about playing music quietly on a table? Like having the Bugsy Malone or Chicago soundtrack playing. If we had a little ipod dock that is, not take out one of the club speakers lol

Dealers Forum / Looking for an assistant
« on: May 02, 2010, 10:54:55 »
Last minute but Im looking for somone to help me on my table. My usual partner is not coming to CF this year, I would alos like to have somone to talk to as it gets lonely
I need:

-Someone who is not staff
- Not doing the fursuit walk
- Not going to steal money or art
-Somone I can trust
- You will get art from me anyway
- Not going to run away to all other events on at the time

I know it seems a bit of a stupid idea asking on here, when any random fur will come up and ask, but I would really like some help. If no one comes forward I'll just do it by myself then. Dont have to do anything much, but just look at my price sheet and take an order, also would be brilliant if you can count and are good at maths (coz im not XP)
Either email or PM me, or just come find me on the first day of the con, you cant miss me, i will either be covered in conbadges, have a snow leopard hand puppet with me, will be wearing snow leopard stuff, and possibly one of the only girls not wearing a lab coat XD
