Feedback / Re: A mirror for the fursuiters

Believe me folks. Just because it hasn't happened yet does not mean your suggestions haven't been taken on board.
A mirror has been on the "Desirable but not essential" list for a while.

Well said Tryst. I pretty much agree with you on every point.

Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

I personally think this shirt is one of the nicest so far, with last years being my favourite.
I love the minimalist design and not being black is always good. I have too many black tees as is.

Feedback / Re: Suit Head Driers
« on: June 05, 2013, 19:34:31 »
As one of the fursuit crew I can only apologise that heads were treated less than reverently by other con goers. I can assure you that when we felt the need to remove heads from the dryer they were removed with the greatest care and placed on the empty tables around the room.

Unfortunately some people treated the dryer as their personal storage locker and as this was a new thing for this year we are looking at options to improve the way it is handled.
Though I would say it would be ideal if after an reasonable amount of time people removed their own suits, the reality is we are unable to realistically enforce this.

I will admit I was a little disheartened when the continental meats disappeared after the first day. Bacon and Sausage is all well and good but awfully greasy though not as bad as the Britannia thank goodness, I also noticed that veggie sausages had to be special ordered and black pudding disappeared as well.
Also the chinese buffet was a HUGE disappointment. Next to 0 choice in the meal and items disappeared as fast as they arrived meaning you had to snap up what you could while you could. I understand that the chef fell ill but that doesnt help us that paid our not-insubstantial £15 for a rather lackluster buffet which we also discovered drinks were extra and came in even SMALLER glasses than at the bar. Really wish I had saved my money on that night and gone with the light bite menu, would have cost less and been more satisfying.
I was lucky enough to join the queue early for the BBQ but it was hardly "all-you-can-eat" as after I got my initial choices it wasnt worth queueing 45mins to get a second helping, though what I had was nice and well cooked.

I think the cooking staff were a little overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of hungry furs. Hopefully most of these things will be remedied for next year.

As someone with a suiter partner and not as one myself. I agree with Hedgie. Of course Ember and I were lucky that when we turned up early there was no queue. But regardless I prefer the queueing system. Though it would be amazing to have something like a Live info board in the future to let people know when you have no queue and are waiting on people. Perhaps twitter powered as it would allow you to let people know when you had no queue or conversely had a long wait.

Thanks Lev, I guessed that it must have been some technical issue that you were just unable to rectify right away. As I say, mostly minor gripes and I know you guys take every opportunity to improve things year on year.

Overall a fantastic con.

Minor Gripes:
  • I totally agree with the concerns about the Fursuit Dance contest, sitting fourth row back I was mostly unable to see anything and the camera that was being projected onto the screens was similarly badly positioned.
  • Projections in general. I noticed in many events that projection equipment was frequently cutting out. For those of us in the back this was the only way to see many of the events in the stage room and rather ruined the experience.
  • Queueing. While delays are sometimes inevitable the corridors to the side of the stage got unbearably warm. This could have been solved with a single large fan to maintain air flow.
  • With regards to the art auction. I am sure this has been mentioned by others. But it was disheartening to see that in a charity auction, many of the items had a 0% donation. While I no issue with these items. I feel that it wasn't the staffs job to sell peoples items with nothing going to the charity.

Regardless of all that, both CF staff and the Hotel did amazing work to make everything run smoothly and I know some of the minor hiccups are already in hand so that they wont happen next year, I will say this was the best CF yet. I had a fabulous weekend I won't ever forget and I am already excited about next year.

I stopped playing the main games some years ago. I still have a huge chaos army that i am looking to sell to free up some space.
The only games I play now are Blood Bowl and the odd game of Necromunda.
