Post by: Shirik on April 27, 2012, 23:49:36
Just from curiousity, will we have internet access in the dealers den in order to get ref images for our customers?

Hi Shirik,
There is wifi throughout the hotel. Full details can be found here (http://www.confuzzled.org.uk/premiere/venue/internet-access/).

Can you explain exactly what is the difference between the basic, free wi-fi and the payed for one? That page doesn't really explain it well- are you limited to what websites you can visit on the free one, or is it based around speed and bandwidth?

Hi James,

Bandwidth is restricted on free wifi.  This will essentially allow you to do the basics i.e. use twitter, check email.  Anything requiring more heavy use such as streaming, will require the heavy user access.

This is a new service installed into the hotel as they just switched providers from Swisscomm to Spectrum.   I was using it the other day in the hotel during a meeting in order to present certain web pages and articles and it was fine.  Bare in mind of course when you have 700 people all trying to access the network, it is likely to suffer bottlenecks and we will be the first convention of this size to fully utilise it.

Kind Regards,

Rizzo

Wow, Only 8£ for 4 days/3 nights? That is surprisingly cheap.

This is a preferential rate that was successfully negotiated.  Ordinarily, it is £15 a day.  So indeed, in comparison, extremely cheap!

Yeah, that sounds more like the usual hotel rate.

Very nicely negotiated. :3

Of course with all the amazing things happening at the con you will hardly even remember you own anything capable of using this internet thing!

Still, we need to be able to tweet pictures to all the people who aren't there, so they can get really sad that they're not there, so they'll come next year!

That is a good price for internet access, saves me buying a data bundle for the 3G dongle.
