Events / Mad Hatter's Roulette
« on: March 31, 2015, 16:59:34 »
I thought of this as a simple panel event. Several shot glasses of differing flavours of tea are made and the contestants draw a number and pick the corresponding shot. They must determine what the flavour is. The winner is the last player who has correctly guessed all their tea flavours.

For added excitement, we slip in one cup a really nasty flavour and whoever gets that automatically loses.

(I have submitted this to the events team; just awaiting a response)

Events / Mad Hatter's Riddles - Ongoing Competition Idea
« on: March 31, 2015, 16:49:38 »
I was thinking of a little game that can be played throughout the convention. Here's how it goes down.

During the course of the convention, attendees can find, dotted around the function space, signs featuring QR codes. When scanned, these QR codes reveal a riddle left behind by none other than the Mad Hatter himself. You see, he's a fanatic of brain teasers and riddles; I mean, how else can he tell if he's mad or not or pass the time till someone drops in for tea? So why not play the Hatter at his own game?

When you register, attendees can also choose to purchase an answer sheet from con-ops and begin answering the riddles left behind by the Hatter in a bid to win a special prize at the closing ceremony.

Any takers? I'd be happy to compile together the riddles.

(I have submitted this to the events panel, but I am yet to hear back).

Events / Uni-fur-sity Challenge
« on: January 02, 2015, 21:51:48 »
I noticed a lot of furs on Facebook put down for their education that they attended the school "Furry High", as well as other similar fictitious places of learning. So I figured, what if we could pit two of these places against each other in a "University Challenge" style quiz?

Discussion / Buying a pass for a friend as a gift
« on: December 31, 2014, 09:57:10 »
Hello!

I've got a friend's birthday coming up and I reckon it'd make his year if I got him a ticket to the convention as a birthday present. Will it be possible to be able to buy a pass for him as a gift?

I recall bringing this up a couple of times at previous conventions. The feedback panel said they would try this out.

Events / Photoshoot Photos

Simply put, when will we see the photos from the Photoshoot sessions? I'm really looking forward to completing my Confuzzled photo album with these pictures!

CHILDREN
Unfortunately the hotel wasn't exclusive to the con, so there were kids running amuck, and two certain boys jumping at suiters and ended up damaging suits, as their parents just dumped the kids in the lobby and walked off leaving them unsupervised, (and lead to security staff having to watch over them, a very big thank you to Rwylin!!)

I'm not sure how you can approach this one. Did security say no?

Feedback / Re: The main area.
« on: June 08, 2014, 11:58:01 »
With the hotel last year, the main entrance was separate from the car park; whereas this year, the front entrance is used for valets and drop off, which meant that any communal areas outside were not really out front. Hopefully, the weather might be better, so the use of outside communal areas would be easier.

Are we still at the Hilton Metropole for 2015?

Feedback / Video Games Room + Artists' Alley
« on: May 31, 2014, 22:19:47 »
I was quite pleased with the facilities provided within both the Video Games Room and Artists' Alley; the Video Games room was spacious to allow storage of several volunteering consoles and games whilst the Artists' Alley, either as part of the hotel or just someone volunteering, supplied various teas. However, there is one thing that I don't understand...

Both Lancaster and York, despite, from what I could gather, being allocated to the convention's use, were only really used from 8pm onwards. I'm surprised that both rooms weren't open earlier or throughout the day. I can understand if it's a matter that only Pantharas and Rin for the Games Room and Alley respectively were the only ones to volunteer to run those rooms - both of which did a very good job by the way, keeping it a friendly environment - but would it be possible that, from next year, there could be a rotating volunteer process to keep them running for longer?

Also, one thing that I noticed about the video games room is the lack of gaming events. I know there was a Halo Tournament and Super Smash Bros, but I'm surprised that these were the only events taking place. Does the convention only run these events based on requests from the convention goers or do they have a set of events they want to do, but these were the most popular/feasible? If you want, I could easily bring in Just Dance again next year or we could hold racing tournaments?

Feedback / Re: It seems that somebody didn't like us.

I do think it's important to look at his opinion while stepping back from the fact that we have personal involvement in the furry fandom.

If you have no experience or knowledge of the fandom, or what we do, wouldn't you find it a bit strange? If you went there for a quiet stay but instead found a hotel full of excitable people in strange costumes, wouldn't you think it was a bit odd?

A lot of us have been very quick to label this guy as a hater or a dick, to be honest I can understand his perspective.

Yeah, but his comment really shouldn't be used to criticise the hotel. After all, his grievance comes mostly not at the hotel, but at the people staying there. I think it's silly he gives the hotel a low score just because he just didn't get us.

I'm looking forward to getting started for Confuzzled 2015. Is it a little too early to begin preparations, I've already made something for the conbook?

Just one guest. Hardly a big deal. Most of the hotel loved us.

Is it ok if I submit this one for the music video selfies thing?  (only one of me I've found so far):
