Title: Art Show
Post by: Wolfie Fox on May 12, 2007, 04:45:27
Hello there, I'm wondering if people are looking to have their art put up on display in the art room. If so you need to contact me, either by PM or sending an email to artroom@confuzzled.org.uk :)

When displaying your artwork, please let me know if it's for sale as we can also enter it into the art auction, to be held on Sunday. :)

I did send an email to  yourself regarding costs of tables but I know I have a problem with my email provider which means some email doesn't get through.

I'm still weighing up pros and cons of the convention, so knowing how much extra it will cost to attend as a trader, particularly regarding the art show, would be very helpful, thank you.

Hey Angyl :)  *snugs*

There is no cost to have your art put up in the dealers den, art room or to enter it into the auction.  We only ask you to make a donation of however much you like which will go to a charity of our choosing. :)

I will get back to you on table sizes and other info closer to the event as we are still sorting a lot of things out.

Will we need to print out our work? I mean, how exactly will our artwork be 'shown'? Will it be on pin boards, or like an art gallery or something? :)

Yes, you'll need to print out your work, it'll be in frames or pinboards, or whatever you'd prefer to showcase your art. :)

Hmm... not knowing the costs involved for dealers may prevent me attending at all. I need to know my expected costs before I register since I will be attending as a dealer not just a regular attendee. Train fares, registration (and by extension, food and accomodation) costs can all be worked out at this point, which is great. But without a figure for the cost of a table I can't progress with my decision at all.

It's £0 cost, with a charitable donation, of however much you'd like, wolfie just said that :)

Cali, we need to sit down at some point and design these tables/racks/whatever you want to call them :P

Just a quick query, sorry if this isn't the right place to ask - I'd be interested in having some work up, but I'm wary that my stuff may not be up to what's considered a 'professional' standard yet.  Will artwork be 'vetted' before being shown?

Hey DracoRattus,

Don't worry about standards, we don't discriminate peoples art.  Anyone is welcome to display their work in the art room :)

Just incase the mood to draw strikes me.

Lol will anyone be selling pens?

Is it possible to redo ones entry for the t-shirt contest? I mean if you made something better than your previous attempt?

Hehe, I'm sure you won't be the only one who brings pens and paper for drawing while at the con. I myself might bring my laptop and graphics tablet for when I'm in my room when I should be sleeping hehe :P

As for buying pens while at the con I'm not sure as to who is selling what in the dealers den as that's not really my area.

Hm....with the con being a while away now, I might actually be able to throw something together. Like DracoRattus, I don't consider my work professional, and I have a really small selection, so it looks like I have to get drawing before the con!

By the way, if we wanted to sell our artwork, how would that work? I do a lot of my art on the computer, so i guess I would just print out a number of copies? And if its drawn in, would I perhaps scan these in and sell those? I have absolutely no idea how art selling at these cons work...

Well, for what I have seen, there are mainly two places to sell art.

First is the Art Show. While some of the art will not be on sale, it seems quite common to have some sort of auction running during the show's display time, with the most sought for pieces been placed in a seperate auctioning event.
This is the usual method of selling either originals or limited prints of 3-10 copies. About.

The second place of marketing is the Dealers Den. You usualy see prints, cards, buttons and just about anything "mass" produced being sold there, as well as commissions, con badges and sketches.

As for the details of the Confuzzled Art Show, I'm waiting for the details as well. Got a few pieces I'm thinking of showing there, as well as a couple of paintings I'm working on to be put in an auction.

Thanks for the reply.

In that case, I'll probably focus on the Dealers Den, since I don't have all that much skill to put my work up for auction!

Say, what's the situation on the art show? I applied for it quite early on, but haven't heard a word since.
Also, it was stated at one point that we'd hear more on March.

We had a staff meeting on the 19th and the art room was discussed. Don't worry, we will be sending out info emails soon :)
