Title: Moar Art show and dealers den questions.
Post by: Alexfox on May 12, 2008, 11:27:19
Right I know I’ve applied now for some stuff at the Dealers den, and artshow, but I still need to know a lot of stuff on the main website is sadly very sketchy (worse in fact dealers den and artshow info is copypasta... yum! yum! Copypasta!). You will have to excuse if this gets bitchy, from here on in but time is now getting short.
Stuff I need to know.

1>   I’ve applied for a panel at the art show but I’ve heard squat back, I have to assume that like the dealers den I have a panel just by Emailing off for it?

2>   What sizes are the panels at the artshow? I had to spesify for two, even though I might only need one due to the lack of information.

3>   Do I need to bring my own stuff to hang my art or will it be provided?

4>   Do I have to fill out an information sheet/bid sheet (like EF) for each item?

5>   Can this be filled out in advance (to save time)? Again like EF offers.

6>   How is the auction going to work? (Again lack of information).

7>   Do we really have to give a (rather whopping) £10 donation to use the dealers den? I know I sound like a bastard for saying this, but currently I am not even sure that I am going to make any money at all from the con, let alone £10. I do want to work for myself really in the dealers den, not charity before I even start. This said I don’t mind putting a pound or two in the tin for the use of but £10 stinking quid!

8>   For that matter is it an additional £10 to hang art in the artshow, or put it to auction? The website makes it look that it is.

9>   What should I do when I come to set up my art on the Friday?

10>   What should I do, or what will happen post auction, where should I go to collect my art, or money from any auction wins?

Answers in BOLD, Alex.

We've told you three times you've emailed and you have a space.
2>   What sizes are the panels at the artshow? I had to spesify for two, even though I might only need one due to the lack of information.
Whatever you want.
3>   Do I need to bring my own stuff to hang my art or will it be provided?
We provide fixings
4>   Do I have to fill out an information sheet/bid sheet (like EF) for each item?
Just tell us, we'll make a note of it. If you want to sell it, what the reserve would be, if it's for charity, etc.
5>   Can this be filled out in advance (to save time)? Again like EF offers.
No as we're likely to lose this info. I would advise to tell them at the checkin time. There will be an email going out to the people who are dealers/art show people about a week before the con with futher info.
6>   How is the auction going to work? (Again lack of information).
Like any other auction, turn up and bid.
7>   Do we really have to give a (rather whopping) £10 donation to use the dealers den? Skinflint! this is for charity!

£10 donation to sell stuff in the dealer's den, sod all to put it up in the art show.
9>   What should I do when I come to set up my art on the Friday?
Turn up to the art room, talk to the people there.
10>   What should I do, or what will happen post auction, where should I go to collect my art, or money from any auction wins?
As it says on the website, there's a pickup time on Monday. Further details about this will be confirmed.  This will be the point when money is exchanged etc.

Sorry if it seems a bit rushed/rude, it's not intentional. :) Happy to help!

I'd also like to know something ^^;

In the dealers den, will we have any effective ways of hanging our art on the wall? I was thinking of having examples, with prices next to them, and then taking waiting lists for certain mediums of commission, with the buyers leaving their emails, for me to contact.

Also, my friend (who's TRYING to come) , Silver-Lynx, would wish to share a table with me. Would this be allowed? Provided she fills in the form and everything. Even though its late, shes only just registered and will HOPEFULLY be paying over the next few days.

And finally, is the £10 compulsary? Not to sound tight, but I was wondering. And if so, when is it payable? Depending if I sell anything (yeah right) it might be better to pay it at the end of the convention.

Thanks!

We have our own hanging panels for the convention, which you can place art on. :)
The prices and waiting list sounds fine.

Silver-lynx can have their own table next to yours, as there's just enough room, all they need to do is to email dealersden{at} confuzzled.org.uk .

The £10 is a charity donation, which is not complusory, but if you don't want to pay it, we're asking if you can now enter something into the charity auction.

I think that's it!

Awesome! Thanks for clearing that up! Also, is there any rules on the rating of the image for the charity auction?

Some more questions, inquisitive little chap, aren't I XD;;;

Would I/Lynx be able to have a moneybox? As in a metal, locked one with change in? Would this be okay, or is the dealers den done differently? I understand we pick up money at the end of the con for the charity auction (right?) but I wasn't sure about the dealers den.

Also, what would be the possibility of getting a plug for a laminator at the con?

Yes, but it'll be your own money box.

Plug is fine :)

Hihi!!

Just a question, how are boards hung on the panals we are provided? Like as in double sided tape, bluetack ect ect, just so I know what to bring :3

And also, do I need to email you dealersden{at} confuzzled.org.uk  for an art table next to Wingedwolf? or can I request it here, Im Silver-Lynx who you where talking about a few posts up XD;;

And I will be bringing a money box, and the same applies for me for the £10 donation, so I can maybe put something in the auction. How do I go about doing it?

Thankyouuu!!

As the convention draws very near, I would like to have some more details on, what kind of fixings will you provide.

For now, most of my works are nothing more than frameless canvas boards, so I'll need to get some frames or some other attachements to them if they are to be hanged from the panels, and not just resting on something and leaning on the panel itself.

We've got easels which your artwork can rest on.
As there's a few artists showing work of different kinds, we're going to put most of the artwork on small table-stands (like mini easels) and also some display boards which have hanging hooks, you can hang frames from. :)

Sounds fine to me. This year I'm not really coming very professionally, mainly because of the short notice, but next year I should have all artwork framed and such D: Can't wait to the con >D
