Discussion / Re: Registration Questions
« on: September 15, 2013, 10:17:23 »
In our previous hotels, there were some non-standard roomsharing combinations (3 or more people sharing a room) that would often require emails to be sent. In the new venue we don't have those options this year, so all room-sharing setups should be done via our online system.

Hi,

If you are registering for a twin (2 x 1-person beds) or a double (1 x 2-person bed) room, you can set up the room sharing in our registration system once you're both registered and paid up - you do not need to email us.

Introduce Yourself / Re: Hey there fuzzbuts!

Welcome to our forum :)

In relation to your question, I'm afraid that the age restriction we have in place is not negotiable. Due to the UK laws and regulations regarding persons under the age of 18 at residential events, and the potential subject matter in the art show, art auction and the dealers den, we have to enforce this rule in order to protect our staff and other attendees. There are a number of other logistical and operational factors in addition to this.

I do fully understand and sympathise with your situation, but I'm afraid that we really do require all attendees to be aged 18 or over on the first day of the convention.

Discussion / Re: Possible themes for Next Year
« on: July 30, 2013, 18:32:04 »
Thanks for all the great suggestions - I just want to let you know we've picked the theme for next year now and an announcement will follow at an appropriate time.

Keep the ideas coming though, we'll take them all into consideration for the future.

Feedback / Re: Public list of fursuit badges

I'm certain the fursuit team will get in touch with you - we're still winding down from this year's convention and sorting out key details for the new venue at the moment, so we're still quite busy.

Hiya! If someone else would like to write a better front and back end to the fursuit badge system, I would be totally delighted! The one we had this year was a horrible cludge I created just enough so it worked.

I'm afraid that I'm going to put a stop to this thread at this point.

My reason for this is because I feel that the topic has moved well beyond the realms of feedback regarding the convention and I cannot see that it will reach any form of conclusion, the debate will continue to circle until the end of time.

Apologies to those who feel strongly about this topic (on either side) who wish to discuss this, but I'm believe this is a matter beyond the scope of the ConFuzzled forums.

Hiya,

If you get the train to Nuneaton instead, we have a shuttle bus running on Wednesday, full details are here: http://2013.confuzzled.org.uk/venue/travel/

Off-Topic / Re: Stupid exams!
« on: April 17, 2013, 19:31:06 »
Masters by Teaching would have exams, Masters by Research would, so it depends on what kind of course you take.

PhD doesn't have an exam as such, but you will have a Viva Voce (aka Thesis Defence) where you have to defend your research against two experts in the field who will ask you questions about it and make sure that you really know your stuff. My PhD Viva was 14 days after the end of CF2011 though, and I did fine (despite a week of business travel and moving house in that fortnight too). :P

Discussion / Re: Question About Wednesday Early Registration
« on: April 16, 2013, 21:38:46 »
Hi there,

I can confirm that you do not need to have registered in order to either check into your room (just go direct to hotel reception) or to attend the breakfast serving (you just need to be checked into your room).
