Feedback / Re: Artists Alley
« on: June 08, 2013, 10:47:01 »
Can i be honest? Im an artist and I actually had no idea what the artists alley is. I didnt go have a look as i was told that its just where the big name artists sit around and talk. Thats probably not true but i kinda wish i knew more about it.
I popped on on security sweeps now and again and it was a large room with about 12-18 people sitting around a few tables quietly chatting and drawing. Looked quite nice - if only I could draw !  :-[

Feedback / Re: Fursuit Lounge

Sounds a bit like how the lounge at EF is.
And AC - though they post a guard as well, which may be overkill as far as we're concerned :)

The Fursuit Lounge could do with Security Guards at the door, to stop non-fursuiters peeking in. The Fursuit Lounge near ConOps had its door open all the time, and anyone could snap a photo of a headless furry in the lounge!

Security guards on the door would tie up staff resources as they would have to check fursuit badges of those that entered the lounge, it would be virtually unworkable.

Why would anyone want to take a photo of a headless fursuiter unless it's a close friend?

Auroa is indeed correct that posting security guards is over kill for the fursuit lounge.  It has not yet become such an issue that we have had to ensure it is posted, and most if not all attendees remain respectful of the no photos policy by the headless lounge  With it being set back from the main street also, I do not feel this was an issue, and infact the only time someone did take a photo that we the fursuit team are aware of, was in the Paris Suite waiting for the parade to start. When swiftly told not to do so, they stopped, no arguments.

The fursuit lounge in the new hotel is also offset, and behind another room, so again do not think this will become a problem.  Given that it is side by side with the nightclub, and the nighclub has a security doorman posted, this should infact resolve any concerns you have. :)
A simpler alternative would surely be to do something similar to the adult section in the artshow, and have a screen / dogleg / T-junction at the entrance, thus blocking a direct view into the room ?

Feedback / Re: Headless Fursuiters...

If I recall, AC introduced a "screened off area" for suiters in the main hall - as the trek back to the nearest fursuit lounge was too far. I guess it all depends on the layout of the new hotel - who knows, there may be a lounge right next door :)

I would mention here that Anthrocon does have several fursuiting related panels - including:

"Fursuiting in Public"
"Fursuit Care and Maintenance"
"Light Effects and Electronics in Fursuit Construction"
"Fursuit Character Building and Performance"
"Fursuit Meet and Greet"
"Advanced Fursuit and Mascot Performance"

and last year also included "How to be a Demon:Performance for Darker Characters"

Of course, they (currently !) have a larger audience to draw from and not all of these are applicable in the UK - for example, the number of furs either interested in attending or capable of giving a talk specifically on electronics in fursuits would probably be too small to be viable. However, it's always a good thing to try and have a broad spectrum of panels aimed at multiple levels of ability - from those who want a suit but haven't got one, to those just starting to suit, all the way up to highly experienced suiters.

There's always something useful to pass on, even if it's an informal round table session, rather than a formal presentation :)

Re 2), I have a 6ft long free-standing (on castors) heavy duty metal clothes rail which should be free by next CFz if you'd like it :)

Feedback / Re: Suit Head Driers
« on: June 05, 2013, 19:57:11 »
As one of the fursuit crew I can only apologise that heads were treated less than reverently by other con goers. I can assure you that when we felt the need to remove heads from the dryer they were removed with the greatest care and placed on the empty tables around the room.

Unfortunately some people treated the dryer as their personal storage locker and as this was a new thing for this year we are looking at options to improve the way it is handled.
Though I would say it would be ideal if after an reasonable amount of time people removed their own suits, the reality is we are unable to realistically enforce this.
Some kind of automatic eject system that fires the head across the room onto a spike if left there for too long ?  ;)

Introduce Yourself / Re: It's been a pleasure.
« on: June 04, 2013, 20:56:15 »
Good afternoon to all of you, I'd just like to say thank you, for making my convention a very special (if massively overwhelming) one.
And I'd also like to thank Kyyanno for roping me into volunteering and helping out with the menial labor during Wednesday and throughout the convention, it was a huge icebreaker for me and really did help me mingle with the rest of the convention-goers and even get to know a good few of the staff. That and I actually spent a great deal more enjoying the actual atmosphere than I did the events, and see why the staff here are so passionate about their jobs (sometimes... xD)
It was good to see you enjoying yourself !  :)

On the most part, I felt it was dealt with well, but it had teething issues, and were we to return next year, this is something that would once again come under the microscope.  As it is, with the new hotel, the process will now start over, but I feel confident in what they will be able to offer - including fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals, toast etc.. as well as the fried foods, for breakfast!
Bacon and yoghurt for breakfast ? Hmmm.....  ;D

Feedback / Re: 2013 Shirt design
« on: June 04, 2013, 19:52:15 »
The hotel staff didn't get to keep their t-shirts, this was confirmed to be by several sources including one of the managers
Aww, that's unfair  :(

Could someone at least send them one of the attendee t-shirts each as a momento ?

And yeah, the hotel staff shirts were a lot better! Does anyone know if these are available to buy? I think they were far superior and a better colour.
Afaik, the hotel staff were not allowed to sell their t-shirts. The only one that was sold went in the live auction for charity :)

Feedback / Re: A mirror for the fursuiters
« on: June 04, 2013, 13:14:17 »
Someone suggested mirrors in the fursuit lounge during the feedback session on Monday (see what you missed !  ;) )

Although mirrors (of the full length type) are on the wish-list, there was just no money in the budget this year (after building all the other new spiffy stuff like the super turbo fursuit dryomatic 4000 ;))

The staff have (apparently) some cunning and ingenious plans for mirrors for next year...

The t-shirt design was discussed at the feedback session on Monday morning.

As I recall, the decision to "tone down" the design and avoid massive "ConFuzzled 2013" straplines was taken as many people like to wear the t-shirts as normal t-shirts at work (for instance) and don't necessarily want to start answering possibly awkward questions about what "ConFuzzled" is.

The staff have taken note though, so there may be new developments for next year  :)

Assuming you're a residential attendee, it's included in the cost  :)

http://2013.confuzzled.org.uk/venue/recreation-areas/

"The Health Spa facilities are available to all residential attendees and includes non-exclusive access to a heated pool, spa, sauna, steam rooms, solarium and modern gym equipment."

Can we agree on stuff to make you non-stinky ? :)

Yes...But no, we're not letting Security loose with Super Soakers, as tempting as it may be  :P
