Discussion / Re: Question About Wednesday Early Registration
« on: April 17, 2013, 07:06:21 »
Just to expand on that a little, there's at least one member of staff at the hotel Reception desk 24/7. The main potential problem would be if you're sharing a room with someone and they've gone to bed and locked the door before you get there.

No worries of that happening: I'm a Wednesday arrival, but my roommate won't be there until Thursday. Thanks for your consideration, though. I legitimately appreciate it.

Hi there,

I can confirm that you do not need to have registered in order to either check into your room (just go direct to hotel reception) or to attend the breakfast serving (you just need to be checked into your room).

Thank you very much! *gives cookie of thankfulness*

This had me worried for most of the day, but I'm glad to know I worried over nothing. Thanks once again.

check in at the hotel and reg for the con are two separate things you need to do...... so even if u miss the early reg for the con you will still be able to get into your hotel room

Thanks for clearing that up, you put a lot of worries to rest  :)
I do think I'm gonna keep this thread up until I hear from con staff, though. I'm kinda paranoid about double-checking like that.

Discussion / Question About Wednesday Early Registration
« on: April 16, 2013, 10:44:12 »
Hey everyone,

I'm really looking forward to the con and am very glad that the event schedule is up now. But as I was looking over it, I noticed I a potential problem:

I registered for early arrival on Wednesday, and Early Registration on Wednesday is open from 20:00 to 22:00. Unfortunately, I am coming to CF from overseas and my plane is scheduled to land at Birmingham International at 21:50. Even assuming the plane isn't delayed, my luggage doesn't take forever and the taxi-ride to the con doesn't encounter heavy traffic, it's likely that I won't actually get to the hotel until about 23:15 or 23:30, well after Early Registration has closed. Now, I don't mind if that means having to wait until the next day to get my Sponsor goodies and whatnot; it'd be annoying but hardly the end of the world. There are, however, two things I don't know about this situation which have me worried.

- Most importantly: if I am unable to register with the convention because registration is closed, does that mean I also can't check into the hotel? I legitimately don't know how exactly those two are intertwined, and I really don't want to find out when I get there that I can't check in without registering with the con. I'd really hate it if I had to find another hotel for that one night or if any of the CF staff had to be dragged out of bed to handle my registration just because the only flight left on Wednesday was such a late one. So if any of the staff members or other people in the know can tell me how this could work please let me know.

- This is less of a big deal, but still not entirely clear to me, so here we go: assuming something can be arranged so that I can check into the hotel without registering with the con, am I still allowed to attend the breakfast buffet on Thursday morning? Is the buffet a service the hotel provides to all its guests or is it optional and included in the CF price? It's not a big deal if I have to wait until I'm registered to attend it, since Thursday registration opens at 10:30 and the buffet is open until 11:00, but I would like some clarity about this ahead of time.

Thank you very much in advance if you can help clarify any of this, and I hope to see you all on May 29th.

- James.

Events / Re: Air-... Well air-anything, really.

That was the event I suggested last year. It wasn't carried forward as there was a lot of events competing for a limited anount of time and it was felt that it was not best to do a half hearted effort, but to make sure it was ready. I'm certainly open to looking into it again for next year.

If you could, I would highly appreciate it. I've been meaning to try something like this forever and I know I can't be the only one.

Introduce Yourself / Re: Hello, greetings and hi

Greetings and welcome aboard to the CF forums, I'd normally offer a cookie or other baked product. But I'm not really too sure what to offer a spider, something of silk perhaps?

How about a nice juicy mosquito? I could do with one right about now.

A long time ago it was suggested that there be an air-guitar competition for the fursuiters at the con. That thread lasted for about 3 posts and near as I know it was never heard from again.
I want to bring it back, but make it a little more open this time: not only should it be open for both fursuiters and non-fursuiters, I want to see people play whatever they want:
air-guitar, air-piano, air-bass, air-drums, air-bagpipes, whatever. Let's get some variety up in here.

All we need is a stage, a computer attached to a decent speaker, and people submitting an MP3 of their song in advance along with their name and intended instrument.

Maybe we could first do the non-fursuiters, then the fur-suiters, and then the next evening a showdown between the winners of either one (give them the extra day to choose a song they can both agree on and practice).

I'm just spitballing here, but I think this could be really awesome if done right. Your thoughts, everybody?

I've been trying to find people to play Ironclaw with for ages. Colour me interested (and purple, because purple is purty).

Whelp, here goes. Hello everybody, you can call me James. I've been giving Confuzzled some suggestive looks from across the bar for the better part of 2 years now, and I figured I might as well finally try to actually attend.

I've been a furry now for about 5 years but didn't seriously get into until about 3 years ago. Outside of that, I am currently a student of Arts, Culture & Media; an aspiring video-maker, writer and reviewer; a gamer; a film-fan; a fan of anything containing shrimp; an amateur pianist; bisexual with a preference for the ladies (though I'm comfortable both giving and taking when it comes to dudes) and a general talky do-y person. My age I'm not sure is any of your business but I will say that I am a legal adult and rocking a beard my best friend has described as 'awesome' (he's easily impressed).

I intend to attend Confuzzled 2013 and would appreciate roommates; come one, come all. I'm not picky.

I can't draw to save my life and I've yet to commission a piece of my fursona, so for now you'll have to make do with a description: A 5'1" purple lady-spider by the name of Ea, with red eyes, short dark hair, 6 arms and 2 legs.
Yeah, I like spiders (female golden orb-weavers especially). Apologies to any arachnophobes in the audience.

Besides spiders I am also a big fan of snakes, swans, bats and cats. Sorry for all the canines out there; you guys are awesome, just not my particular blend of awesome.

Anyway, this is the first real furry forum I've ever joined, and Confuzzled will be the first furry convention I've ever attended, so here's to many a fine day ahead and an awesome con. Pleased to make your acquintance.

-James.
