Eric Schwartz's Aerotoons are probably the obvious non-animal anthros that furrys might have come across.

Events / Re: Old-School Photoshoot

I think you've a number of options, depending on what you want to do and how you want to work:

  • Go for an official event, listed in the con book.  I think the biggest problem here is that you won't have that much control as to who turns up as a subject.  There could be many, or few.
  • We arrange an unpublished room and time con-book where you can set up and take pics of people you've invited.  The event rooms aren't that good for natural light though.  The official shoot relies on flash.
  • Arrange with our official photographer for a slot where you can use the backdrops and flash for the official shoot.
  • Take photos in the public areas or outside.

Discussion / Re: policy question?

We try to accommodate people with disabilities as best we can.  One of the reasons the hotel was chosen is that all but one event room is accessible (that last one has a single step).

The registration line has only really been long if you choose to queue before registration opens, or try and register early on before the rush has died down.  Lots of people choose to do this.  We've plans this year to have reg open earlier and longer, which should get rid of much of the problem.  If you've specific problems that prevent you standing in line at all then I'm sure we can sort something out.

It is important that you, and your friend, fill in the medical information part of the registration form so we can plan accordingly.

We have had strobe lighting in the past for the dances, and post a notice outside when strobe lights may be used.  I don't know if the team rigging the nightclub are planning to have any this year.  In general the earlier dances have higher levels of illumination, mainly for fursuiters with poor vision, and things get darker and the effects cranked up as the night goes on.  Unfortunately, strobes aren't the only lighting effect that can trigger photosensitive epilepsy, as I'm sure your friend is aware, and the other dancers often have glowing and flashing accessories, so they may have to exercise caution around the dances.

ConFuzzled does have a team trained in first-aid should the worst occur.

Events / Events Ideas
« on: October 11, 2011, 11:53:11 »
Update 01/04/2012 - We're now closed for new event submissions for the 2012 convention that will be published in the conbook.  You may still be able to host an event but it likely won't be in our conbook or printed timetable, but can be published in our online timetable at or advertised on the Convention Noticeboard outside the Convention Operations office.  If you have already emailed your suggestion to then we should be able to include it in the conbook.

Original Post:

We are always interested in new event ideas, and with the new venue this year we should be able to run even more events than before.

If you've an idea for an event you'd like to run, or you'd like to see run, please continue to post them in this area of the forum. It is probably best to separate each idea out into a different topic (thread) and set the subject to the name of the new event.  This way others can add their thoughts too.

Obviously include a description of your event.  It would be really helpful if you could indicate if you want to be involved in running it; perhaps you've got expertise in the subject.  If it is something you'd like to participate in, perhaps suggest people who might be good people to run the event.

Currently we are in the process of setting up the timetable system, and working out where and when the big stage events fit.  Once that is done we will begin looking at the ideas here, things that people have mailing into the events team, the new ideas staff have come up with, events from previous years, and so on.

Please don't be discouraged by the lack of immediate feedback - every idea will be considered!

Off-Topic Furry Discussion / Re: who's excited: Retro gaming
« on: April 06, 2011, 11:24:14 »
It's rather too late to add a retro gaming event to this year's timetable as the con book is about to go to print.

If someone were to bring an old console and games, it might be possible to use it in the Late Night Arcade event if Crome who is running it is happy to do so.  There are a few challenges though.  I'm not sure if the projectors and screens we have will work with the composite video and RF that old consoles typically output.  We would also have to consider what would happen if the console was broken, especially if it was difficult to replace.

All electrical equipment used for events has to be PAT tested (this is both a visual inspection, so no cracked cases or frayed wires, and an electrical test) to make sure it is self.  We can do this at the con.

Of course, there's nothing to stop you bringing a console and using it at a room party, providing you don't disturb people in nearby rooms.

There are a few therians that will be at ConFuzzled (such as myself).  Probably the best thing is to come to the spirituality event.

Introduce Yourself / Re: Im all alone
« on: February 25, 2010, 16:33:24 »
I think it really depends on the individual.  There are some people who wouldn't think twice about walking up to people they don't know, introducing themselves, making new friends and so on.  It wouldn't matter if they were in a place with 10 people or 10,000.  At the other extreme are people who are much more cautious, and may feel awkward not knowing anyone.  They might not put themselves forward, and then if no one approaches them then they might leave without making new friends.

I think it helps to go to any con or local meet with an attitude of "I'm going to introduce myself to people I don't know" if I'm interested in what they're doing.  Once you know a few people, or fall in with a small group, you tend to meet others much more easily.  If you know someone else who is going, or you've at least chatted to them online, it makes it a bit easier.

If you do decide to attend ConFuzzled, then you'll probably appreciate our "First Con" event that runs right after the opening ceremony, and perhaps joining in a team at our furry Pub Quiz on the first night.  Meanwhile, tell us all a bit about yourself, maybe post to the "How you found furry" thread.

Announcements (CF2008-CF2011) / A message from the Board of Directors
« on: November 26, 2009, 11:58:03 »
It is with regret that the staff of ConFuzzled must announce the departure of our chairman, FurbleFox. He has chosen to step down from his role, for his own personal reasons.

Over the years, he has put a large amount of time and effort into making the convention what it has become, and without him it would likely never have happened. For everything he has done, we are hugely grateful and owe him the most sincere thanks.

An announcement will follow soon regarding the appointment of the new chairman of the convention, and we hope that you will join us in welcoming them to the role as we prepare fervently for 2010.
We look forward to seeing you all in May for another incredible ConFuzzled!

Out of interest, would you consider letting those who might drive for 8 and a half hours in early or should I snooze in my car :D
HoneyHusky's question, and the response, was about the very first ConFuzzled.  Back then we didn't have the option for early arrival.  Getting registered and getting your room key were the same thing.  ConFuzzled 2010 is in a hotel, so while you might not be able to get into your room immediately, there will be space to socialise and so on before reg opens or the con starts.  Some people will have arrived the night before the con, and taking that option might be the best idea if you plan to crash out after the drive.  You won't be able to sleep in the lobby ;)

As a general rule it's best to ask beforehand with privately owned places (such as stores and shopping malls).  Security have every right to keep you out of those places (as they'd do if you were wearing a crash helmet etc.) - and yes, a group of us got told to stay out of Tesco as we were wondering about on Halloween, though we were welcomed at Domino's, and invited into a live music night without having to pay!  You're more likely to get a yes if you can provide a reason for wanting to do it - such as collecting for a charity (but if you are collecting you need to be registered to do that).

Announcements (CF2008-CF2011) / Re: ConFuzzled Registration

How long will it take to get confirmation of payment cos i payed over the counter a while back now and have had no confirmation n im getting  worried!
and yes i did email the sort code ><
You registered on the 19th, and we put a note about EuroFurence on the registration page shortly after:

Important: Eurofurence 21st Aug to 2nd Sept
The ConFuzzled registration team will be attending Eurofurence. Therefore, you may experience delays in getting your registration approved and for processing of your payments. This will last from Friday the 21st of August until Wednesday the 2nd of September. Please do not panic if it takes some time for your registration to be approved - Brok hasn't eaten your registration! And don't worry about your payment deadline passing if you have paid but your registration status simply hasn't been updated yet to "paid" - your registration will not be cancelled. We will attempt to process as many registrations and payments as we can whilst we are in Germany but it will simply take a little longer for us to respond. We will resume normal service after the 2nd of September!

Given it takes a few days for the payments to show up they probably didn't see it before they left for EF, so I wouldn't worry about the payment not being acknowledged yet.  Give them a day or so to catch up with their sleep after getting back from EF, and if it is still a problem then e-mail the registration team.

I'm 44, have only been doing it for a few years and still have a great time.  Last weekend a few of us went to do some public fursuiting in a Birmingham park, and it was well received, rewarding, and a lot of fun.  Do it .... you know you want to...

I'd like to apologise profusely (again) for repeatedly disrupting Sangluna's area to get into the cupboards at the back of the dealer's den.  Let's not keep random Con stuff in the dealer's den again!

Introduce Yourself / Re: Hello Again!

Glad to read that you want to join us next year for ConFuzzled 2010.  Right now (almost) all of the staff are having a well deserved rest and we haven't opened registration for 2010 yet.  Keep on watching this forum and our LJ community for news about the new location, the theme for next year's con, and details of how and when you'll be able to register!
