Why not confuzzled.org ?
« on: January 30, 2014, 12:51:30 »
Out of idle curiosity rather than any particular desire to change, why does CFz's domain use the .uk suffix, rather than just being confuzzled.org ?

Is it down to that's how it started out and no-one is bothered about changing it ? Are there technical reasons ? Is it down to needing a budget to afford the domain (as it still seems to be available) and there are better things to spend it on ?

With EF using the .org suffix, I was just idly musing why CFz hasn't gone the same way.

You've dared to ask that question on a forum frequented by geeks? You're a very brave man...   ;D

Seriously though, ConFuzzled is a UK-based non-profit organisation, so .org.uk makes perfect sense (and good use of the namespace). Were it US-based, then we'd be using .org.

And Eurofurence use eurofurence.de for their "corporate" site and .org for the convention site as there is no .org.de second level domain.

Thanks SouthPaw, I assumed there must be a reasonable explanation :)

It's just that after going round a load of websites and getting used to typing .com or .org for conventions, it stands out like the proverbial sore thumb when ConFuzzled requires you to add .uk on the end ::)
